Hello, Allo, Sake Pase!
I'm Cassandra Charlot Swilley
At the beginning of my undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, I was studying computer science, but I soon realized that I was most captivated by the creative and human element of technology. My desire for a creative outlet, collaboration, and design brought me to change my course of study to Interactive Media and Native American & Global Indigenous Studies (even before I knew what UX was!).
Since then, I've discovered my passion for UX/UI Design and how this field brings together my love for understanding people, solving problems, and combining these goals to create meaningful, intuitive, and visually appealing experiences. I believe that great designs can have a positive impact and get the most excited about designs and experiences that aim to tell stories.
As a naturally curious person, I’ve always loved to ask questions, something I consider the core of HCD. This curiosity is essential to my design approach. One of my favorite parts of what I do is the ability to ask my many questions and think through solutions.
I thrive in collaborative spaces, working closely with others to communicate design decisions effectively and align interests. I have put this into practice most recently as a UX/UI Design Intern at Trimble, working with SketchUp and as a 3D Artist at the VESL, creative studio at University of Miami, working in XR.
What I'm Doing When I'm Not Working
I’m the person always trying to capture candid moments while I’m out and about with my grandpa’s old polaroid camera from the ‘80s (I can only buy film from one distributor, it’s that old!). I assure you 9 times out of 10, this block of a camera is in my tote bag!
I love to read a good book, listen to podcasts, try new foods, or going to art exhibits and museums. Recommendations are always welcomed!
